She’s incredibly smart and creative. She even won the math award for her class. She notices details that I would never think about. The other day she crafted ramen noodle cups for each singer on the demon hunter show on Netflix. She’s funny, loves to sing, make jokes, and is extremely social. In kindergarten, she renamed herself “Pop.” Sometimes it’s hard for people to understand that she is Autistic. Pip struggles with anxiety, executive function, using kind words when she’s overwhelmed, and regulating her emotions. It’s been a difficult year. She started a new school, and then a month later started another new school that could accommodate her behaviors better. She’s been restrained, told she can’t participate with her non disabled peers, removed, and forced to begin again. Yet she keeps pushing forward with the help of a well-worn, tattered, beloved Blankie. She is the bravest, little girl I know. She is determined, and within only a couple weeks taught herself to ride her bike. We didn’t think she could ride up a hill to which she replied, 'I’m going to conquer that hill, because you said I can’t and I know I can.' My Pip has conquered mountains."
